Family Synapse is a private app that helps a family keep track of its schedule, routines, chores and schoolwork. This page explains what information it keeps and how it's used.
What we keep
- Family information you enter: names of family members, their lists and tasks, check-offs and points, and settings.
- Sign-in information: passwords are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form, never as readable text. A small cookie keeps each device signed in.
- Google Calendar (only if a parent connects it): when a parent taps "Connect Google Calendar," Google gives the app permission to see the list of that person's calendars and their events, and to add events. The app shows those events inside the family's own account on the Today and Prep screens. It keeps the permission key Google provides and the email address of the connected Google account. Events are read from Google when the screens are shown and are not stored long-term.
How it's used
- Only to run the app for the family that entered it. Each family's information is kept separate and is visible only to people who sign in to that family's account.
- We don't sell, rent or share family information or Google data with anyone, don't use it for advertising, and don't use it to train AI models.
- Family Synapse's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Where it's stored
The app runs on Cloudflare. Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Children
Children use Family Synapse only through an account their parent sets up and controls. Parents decide what goes into the app and can change or remove it at any time.
Your choices
- A parent can disconnect Google Calendar at any time on the Parent page, or at myaccount.google.com/connections.
- A parent can download all of the family's information with Export on the Parent page.
- To have a family's information deleted, email blodgettfamilyhub@gmail.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
