Ok- I already posted about my beef with Frodo and I promise Frodo has nothing to do with this ring. Last May Garreth and I had a weekend away at a camp with other parents of children with special powers. This was an unstructured weekend meant for respite and connecting with other parents who get it.
I wanted one thing. To go for a walk with Garreth. Really. It’s so peaceful to be in the woods and we don’t get to do that. So we went for a walk. All of a sudden, Garreth got down on one knee. (Wait, did I forget to marry him?) He started reciting our wedding vows. Obviously I started crying. Then he busted out a gorgeous sapphire ring for me. That would be in honor of our wedding month. The thing is, this gift wasn’t for a birthday or anniversary or anything. It was just because.
He reminded me of our promises to each other just starting out, that “with God’s help, no challenges, changes, nor difficulties will ever tear us apart.” I love him for that.
