Modes of Transportation – Part 3
When the boys were 3 and 5, we flew as a family to England. British Airways was amazing! We were connecting at Heathrow and were late. So we ran, really ran, to attempt to make the flight. We ran with 2 car seats, while pushing a wheelchair and yelling at Liam to run with his Thomas the Tank carry-on. We rounded a corner and realized we had to go through security again. Good grief, really? Somehow, we got waved to our very own line and we kept on running. Then as we went through customs, they basically said we’d never make it. Well, we ran anyway.
As we rounded the corner to our gate, we saw a huge line. Then we heard the announcement. “We’re sorry for the delay. We’re waiting for our special needs passengers from America.” Again…really? Own it or hide? Well, duh, you can hardly hide with a kid in a wheelchair and said accessories. So they allowed us to board first. The plane was loaded and we waited again. Then came another announcement. “We’re sorry for the delay. We’re waiting for the luggage for the passengers from America.” Really? Just go without it, please. So here is my public apology to everyone who waited for us and my huge thank-you to British Airways for getting us where we needed to go, even if we didn’t make any friends.
