Thanks to BlogMaster Uncle Joshy for asking what sources of government funding Aidan receives. We don’t always get to see where our taxpayer dollars go so I’ll give a little picture. I’m answering with just the facts and you can process them however you choose. Aidan has private insurance with the rest of our family. He also has Medicaid. Between the two, Aidan receives after school therapy and medical supplies. These include, but are not limited to, his walker, wheelchair, orthopedic braces, and thickener for drinks. We have also received Case Management which, I believe, is both state and federally funded. This is basically a person that can help you reach a concrete short term goal. We used this person to hook us up with a Home Health Aide, also funded by Medicaid. So the biggest question pertaining to this blog is, where is funding for an accessible van? Well, there is actually limited government funding available to adults who need accessible transportation to get to work, and for Veterans. These are two very worthy groups. As of yet, I have not found funding for a child who needs accessible transportation. It takes a village. Thank-you for being part of it.
