So I have Aidan’s ipad programmed to say “I’d like to choose a drink please.” When he touches that button it switches to a page where he can choose a drink. A few weeks ago I was helping him show off this skill to his grandparents. When he touched the button it said, “Give me a drink now. No questions.” Hmmmm….I’d say big brother had been messing with the ipad. I left it that way for awhile. Here’s why. First, I kinda thought it was funny. Second, for real, do we think all 10 year olds are polite all the time? I know it’s my job to teach Aidan to be polite but he doesn’t actually have the freedom to say, “No way mom.” “Go away.” “Give me that now.” He surely is thinking those things but all of his words are mine. Now when we’re waiting for Daddy to put food on the table, we get out the “Come on” button. A little sass in his life is age appropriate (and I get to turn it off whenever I want).
