Favorites – Part 2
Aidan’s Physical therapist, Karen, has seen him since birth. To me, she was wonderful from the beginning. We forged an incredibly honest relationship. She would give me exercises to work on with Aidan or equipment to use. She’d make her recommendations, and then I’d tell her just exactly how often I would follow them. I announce myself in her office each week by declaring to have earned an A+ on my homework thanks to college paper world or not so much an A+. For Aidan, all assignments from Karen were work; standing up, taking steps, climbing stairs. She also cannot be bought with his sweet smile that leans right into her face and says, “Let’s just sit this one out.” In spite of all of that, Karen has become Aidan’s favorite therapist. There is simply no hiding it because he greets her with a full on body wiggle and giggle every week. There is no one else who gets such a consistent, enthusiastic greeting from Aidan. While I try so hard not to be insanely jealous, it bring me joy to the depth of my being that Aidan loves and is loved by the people around him.
