OMG! Thank you for this post. My son is also having hip surgery next spring. I have been dreading this for years and his doctor said it is time. I have started thinking about it and planning for it including making sure I have the time out of work to care for him. I never thought about accessibility when he comes home. We rent a small house. We can currently manage to get him around in his wheelchair, but how are we going to get him throughout the house when he is in a brace? I guess there are a lot more things I need to plan for.

  2. Bray’s Ma-Ma: So good to hear from you. I have lots of questions about recovery too. It seems that kids can be in different kinds of casts depending on the surgery and the doctor. I’m sure I’ll be writing more about it here and I hope you’ll follow our journey. I’d also be happy to correspond through email if you have other questions (not sure I can answer). I hope things go well with your son.

Your blog is bookmarked 🙂 You are on my list of bedtime reading. I have a few different blogs that I usually check through for updates before settling in for the night. I don’t really have any family or friends that understand what we go through. Finding your blog and a few others have really helped. It’s comforting finding stories from others that actually are similar to my own. Thanks for blogging!
